Abstract:
Background: Endometrial cancer (EC) is a common gynecological cancer ranks as fifth cancer worldwide and the tenth common cancer in Egypt. Termed DEL-۱ (EGF like repeats and discoid domains ۳), is an embryonic endothelial cell protein. EDIL۳ was associated with regulation of angiogenesis. SOX (sex-determining region Y-related high-mobility-group box transcription factor). SOX۴ expression was altered in many human cancers. This research aimed to study the expression of EDIL۳, SOX۴ in EC in atrial to explore their relationship with clinicopathological parameters prognostic and treatment outcome.Method: This retrospective study included ۵۰ paraffin blocks of cases of endometrial adenocarcinoma (endometroid type) with different grades which were selected from the archives of the Pathology Department, Zagazig University, Egypt during a period from January ۲۰۱۵ to last of December ۲۰۱۹. The expression of EDIL۳, SOX۴ was evaluated using immunohistochemistry. Results: ۵۶% of the studied patients were >۴۵ years old. ۵۴% had well-differentiated adenocarcinoma, and ۵۶% absent lymph node metastasis. EDIL۳ and SOX۴ expression is found in ۷۰% and ۸۴% of the studied patients. A statistically significant relation was detected between EDIL ۳ and tumor grade, stage, lympho-vascular invasion (LVI), and lymph node metastasis (P value was ۰.۰۰۱, <۰.۰۰۱, ۰.۰۰۲, and ۰.۰۰۵, respectively). SOX۴ was significantly correlated with tumor grade, stage, lymph node metastasis, and LVI (P value was ۰.۰۳۹, ۰.۰۰۲, ۰.۰۰۶, and ۰.۰۱۵, respectively). Conclusion: expressions are associated with advanced clinicopathological parameters, unfavorable prognosis, and poor treatment response.
