Abstract:
Chromosome numbers of ۱۵ species of Plantago L. of Iran were investigated. They include first counts for ۲ taxa: P. stocksii Boiss. (۲n=۱۰) and P. loeflingii L. (۲n=۲۴), as well as ۳ new chromosome numbers for ۳ taxa: P. albicans Boiss. (۲n=۸ & ۱۰), P. coronopus L. subsp. commutata Pilger. (۲n=۱۰) and P. coronopus subsp. coronopus Pilger (۲n=۲۰). Diploid chromosome numbers of the taxa investigated varied between ۲n=۸ and ۲n=۲۴. Our results are compared with previous records
