Abstract:
A computer program has been written to compare predicted values of two-phase frictional pressure drop with measured data from an extensive data bank. This data bank contains more than ۱۳,۰۰۰ measurements of frictional pressure drop for two-phase flow of various gas-liquid combinations for a wide range of parameters such as mass velocity, flow quality, system pressure, and pipe diameter. Nineteen correlations from the literature are compared to the data and recommendations are made concerning their application to certain fluid combinations and conditions. Since some of the predicted pressure drop values were wrong by several thousand percent, a second computer programme has been written that automatically selects the most suitable correlation for the desired fluid and flow conditions.
