Abstract:

Design and development of alarm system for CO gas poisoning has an undeniable necessity inrelated technologies. Electrochemical gas sensors in respect to other sensors for detection ofCO gas has extra advantages such as working at low temperature, fast respond and betterselectivity. The fundamental mechanism is based on oxidation of target gas and generatingelectrical current. Oxidation of input gas at working electrode is completed by reduction ofwater at counter electrode. In this research a new method for developing the carbon counterelectrode based on electrophoresis of MWCNT (Multi Wall Carbon Nano Tube) isdemonstrated. Best deposition voltage found to be ۱۵۰ V for ۱۰ minutes run. The result ofliner-voltammetric analysis showed that during the purge of CO gas the reduction of water atcounter electrode easily occurs. Then, with the help of Pt film as working electrode ademonstrating sensor has been set upped which is used for dynamic gas analysis. The responselevel to CO gas was ۸.۳۵ micro-Amper while the response time was ۳۵ seconds. Theelectrophoresis of MWCNT for developing the counter electrode was found to be a new, unique, powerful and easy use method as an application in electrochemical CO gas sensorproduction line
