Abstract:
Aims. This research aimed to examine and analyze the impact of competence and compensation on employee performance, with affective commitment serving as a mediating variable.
Materials and Methods. This research falls under the category of explanatory research. The study focused on members of the Southeast Sulawesi HAIs committee, with a sample size of ۲۱۲ respondents. Data collection was conducted through the distribution of questionnaires to the respondents. The data analysis technique employed was Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS).
Fundings. The results of the data analysis revealed that employee competence, which encompasses knowledge, soft skills, hard skills, and attitudes, as well as compensation, exhibited a significant positive influence on both affective commitment and the performance of committee members. Additionally, affective commitment was found to have a significant positive impact on performance.
Conclusion. In conclusion, this research establishes that affective commitment functions as a mediator in the relationship between competence, compensation, and employee performance.
