Abstract:
In this research study aluminum powder was mixed with zirconia nano-powder in planetary mill for uniform mixing.Then the mixed powders were compacted. Subsequently the compacted discs were sintered both in the conventional furnace, and in the microwave oven.Mechanical behavior was assessed in terms of micro-hardness and compressive properties. Microstructures were observed by SEM. X-ray diffraction was employed to identify various phases if present in the Al-ZrO2nano-composites.The optimum time of microwave sintering has been determined.
