Abstract:

Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field of science that develops methods and software tools using biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, computer programming, information engineering, mathematics and statistics to analyse and interpret biological data. Bioactive peptides (BPs) content of dairy products is suggested to be a significant ingredient for the reduction of breast cancer (BC) risk. The goal of the current study was to assess the association of dairy-originated BPs with BC risk. Women with BC (n=۸۴) and cancer-free (n=۲۵۸) controls were selected from referral hospitals in Tehran, Iran. Bioactive and digestion-resistant peptides content of dairy products were measured by an in-silico method. The risk assessment for BPs and BC association was performed across the tertiles of the peptides’ intake. Odds ratios (OR) were calculated by logistic regression. Our findings deduced that milk-derived BPs have a negative association with the risk of ER/PR/HER۲ negative BC among Iranian women.
