Abstract:
Smart buildings and concretes are intelligent systems that possess unique qualities from regular concrete, such as the capacity to sense and repair itself or to respond to external stimuli like stress and temperature. Concrete and buildings may become "smarter" by adding additional functional components, altering the microstructure, modifying the material composition, or undergoing specific processing. Through customized features for enhancing the infrastructures' lifespan, durability, safety, and serviceability as well as lowering their life-cycle costs, they are made to fulfill individual needs. This article examines current studies on a variety of smart concretes and buildings, paying particular emphasis to their qualities, manufacturing processes, and guiding concepts. Future difficulties in the creation and use of intelligent concrete and building materials are also addressed.
