Abstract:

Background: A chronic inability to attain and maintain an erection strong enough to fulfillsexual activities is known as erectile dysfunction (ED) .PDE۵ inhibitors are the mostcommonly used pharmacologic treatment. Studies on herbal medicine suggest that is efficientand has fewer side effects compared with conventional oral medications. Materials andMethods: A sample of ۱۰۰ erectile dysfunction patients who were randomized into the trialwas followed for three months. The medication contains L-arginine, Tribulus terrestris, andPanax ginseng is standardized to comprise at least ۱۰۰ mg of total saponin. The placebo was a۵۰۰ mg tablet with the same shape, color and weight. For three months, ۵۰ patients in group Areceived the medication twice daily, while the remaining ۵۰ in group B received a placebo.Selected five items from the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) questionnaire Q۲,Q۳, Q۴, Q۵, and Q۱۵ have been used in this study to assess erectile function. Results:Compared to placebo recipients, patients who received the drug demonstrated statisticallysignificant changes in all questions and overall scores. Therefore, this therapy may help patientshave more satisfying sexual experiences and better abilities to attain and maintain an erection.The side effects experienced by medication recipients were not significantly differentcompared to the placebo group. Conclusions: The combined effect of L-arginine, Tribulusterrestris, and Panax ginseng may help patients achieve an erection and have more pleasantsex.
