Abstract:

Background and Purpose: Preeclampsia is a serious obstetric and gynecological condition thatcan have negative effects on pregnancy and childbirth. This study investigated the relationshipbetween various factors and the possibility of preeclampsia. Methods: This study was conducted on two groups of pregnant women: the case group (n=۵۵)with pre-eclampsia and the control group (n=۵۵) without pre-eclampsia at Zanjan MedicalSciences Hospital. The data from the samples were entered using the demographic-obstetricchecklist. The R software was used to analyze the data with the logistic regression test, employingodds ratio (OR) and ۹۵% confidence interval (CI). A p-value < ۰.۰۵ was considered statisticallysignificant.Findings: The effect of each variable on the chance of preeclampsia in two groups was evaluatedusing unadjusted logistic regression. The results revealed that increased maternal age wasassociated with higher odds of preeclampsia (OR ۱.۰۷, ۹۵% CI ۱.۰۱, ۱.۱۴; p=۰.۰۳۲), as werehigher ages of husbands (OR ۱.۱۳, ۹۵% CI ۱.۰۵, ۱.۲۱; p=۰.۰۰۱) and the age differences betweenspouses (OR ۱.۱۵, ۹۵% CI ۱.۰۲, ۱.۳۰; p=۰.۰۲۴) .Conclusion: The probability of preeclampsia increases with the age of the parents, as well as theage difference between the mother and father
