Abstract:
Urban centers, such as Tehran, face complex challenges in transportation, air quality, and infrastructure development. This article explores the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in addressing these challenges, specifically in the design and implementation of urban tunnels. Leveraging AI algorithms for geotechnical analysis, tunnel alignment optimization, structural design, and real-time monitoring, the article discusses how Tehran can benefit from cutting-edge technology to enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of its tunnel projects. Through the integration of AI in construction scheduling, risk assessment, and public engagement, the city can navigate the intricacies of urban development with a forward-looking approach. The article delves into case-specific considerations for Tehran, emphasizing seismic resilience, air quality improvement, and the expansion of the subway network. By embracing AI-driven solutions, Tehran can pave the way for a future where urban tunnels not only alleviate congestion but also contribute to a more resilient and sustainable cityscape.
