Green economy; path toward addressing environmental crisis

As a result of various crises facing the world, the concept of a green economy has become a central issue of policy debates in recent years. UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) that is held in June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro has chosen a green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication as one of its major themes. In its simplest expression, a green economy can be thought of as one which is low carbon, resource efficient and socially inclusive. Within the sustainable development vision and framework, green economy could help us to translate this vision into implementing strategies and play an important role to control of environmental pollutants. Considering the importance of green economy for addressing the environmental crisis, this paper aims to overview the term Green economy and focusing on some key sectors that could play role in transition to a green economy, including : waste , manufacturing , building, renewable energy , urban designing , and tourism .
