Abstract:

In this work, different materials including three types of ionic liquids, paranitroaniline, phenol, amylacetate and urea were added separately to PEBA (polyether block amid) and mixed matrix membranescontaining different functional groups were made. For the prepared membranes the permeability of CO۲ andN۲ and CO۲/N۲ selectivity were measured. The results showed that all the prepared membranes have betterperformance than the pure membrane. Among the used fillers, amyl acetate and phenol had the greatesteffect on the permeability and were able to improve the permeability by ۵۶۵ and ۲۷۵ , respectively, comparedto the pure membrane. In addition, phenol and ۱-(۴-aminobutyle)-۳-methylimidazolium chloride ionic liquidhad the suitable effect on the CO۲/N۲ selectivity and increased it by ۱۳۳۵ and %۶۵ , respectively, compared topure membrane. The comparison of the performance of mixed matrix membranes compared to the ۲۰۰%Robeson upper bound line showed that the membrane containing phenol was able to overcome the trade-offlimit and is a suitable filler to improve the performance of PEBA in the field of CO۲ separation
