Abstract:

The present study sought to evaluate the first-grade junior high school English textbook (Prospect ۱) from teachers' perspective. Content, layout and design, cultural consideration and alphabet learning were criteria in question. To fulfill the ambition of the study ۴۰ English language teachers with diversity in years of teaching experience completed a questionnaire containing ۱۸ questions using five-point Likert scale. To analyze the data Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) One sample T-test was applied and validity of the questionnaire was assessed by Cronbach's Alpha (۰.۸۱۸). The results revealed that the teachers' satisfaction regarding the aforementioned variables was not expressed as the value was lower than the average, except for the layout and design criteria which was up to the average value. It can be concluded the that the book needs to be modified to serve the interest of the students and help them to strengthen their skills and perform better in related areas. It is hoped that the findings of this study shed a light in studies hereafter and inform the related officials of required revisions in the textbook
