Abstract:

The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of self-expression skills on children's shyness and social adjustment. The current research method was practical in terms of its purpose and semi-experimental in terms of its nature, and a pre-test-post-test design was used along with the control group. The statistical population of the current research was all Fifth and sixth grades students in Karaj city in ۲۰۲۱-۲۰۲۲.The sampling method was available; the number of samples in the present study was forty people. The tools used in the present study were the adapted questionnaire compiled by Sinha and Singh (۱۹۹۳, quoted by Narimani et al., ۲۰۱۳) and translated and written by Kerami (۱۹۹۸) and the ۲۰-item shyness scale of Check and Bass (۱۹۸۳). which is graded on a five-point scale from completely disagree to completely agree.Self-assertiveness training for the experimental group was held for eight sessions, and each session lasted ninety minutes. The control group followed their regular daily schedule. Multivariate covariance analysis and SPSS statistical software version ۲۴ were used to analyze the research data. The research findings showed that self- assertiveness training has significantly reduced shyness and increased the social compatibility of the experimental group (p <۰.۰۵). According to the results, self- assertiveness training is suggested to be used to reduce shyness and increase students' adaptability.
