Abstract:
Many environmental challenges have appeared with the increasing energy consumption trend, including climate change and global warming. Green facades, as an environmentally friendly way of reducing building energy, have been considered in this regard; Although their effect is negligible. Accordingly, this study investigated the green wall effect on the energy consumption of a faculty building with a traditional structure and occupancy activity in Yazd with a hot-dry climate. For this purpose, an indirect green wall was installed in four directions on the building’s façade and Grass was used for it. DesignBuilder software was employed for the energy simulation of these fourth scenarios. Moreover, the economic aspect of energy saving, as an important challenge of energy, was analyzed, and the payback period was calculated from the national point of view. Finally, the results revealed that the best direction for installation in this city was the north with ۴.۶۲۴%. Further, the payback period was less than six months.
