Abstract:

A building with ۶۵۰۰ integrated sensors and a wide network of embedded systems can be classified as one of the prototypes of Iran's smart buildings. As the needs for intelligent energy management are increasing, the related project provides a multidisciplinary experimental platform and develops solutions for efficient energy grids, HVAC systems, photovoltaics and smart grids. This paper provides an overview of the project along with three different modeling techniques and shows their strengths and limitations in simulating the thermal behavior of the building and the performance of different energy systems. The thermal model of the building was created and calibrated to analyze and predict energy consumption using Pleiades+Comfie software. A "black box" model was developed using artificial neural networks to simulate energy system parameters and explore efficient control strategies. The last method provides an overview of the development of a comprehensive electrical equivalent physical model with Matlab/Simulink to simulate the overall performance of a building and its HVAC systems.
