Abstract:
This research examines the vibrational characteristics of a sandwich beam. The core of the sandwich beam is composed of porous materials with a functional gradient, while the facesheets are reinforced with carbon nanotubes. The distribution pattern of these reinforcements varies with the height of the beam. By employing Hamilton's principle and a variational approach, the equations governing the beam's motion and the corresponding boundary conditions are derived. To analyze the impact of parameters such as geometry, porosity coefficient, different distribution patterns of porosity and carbon nanotubes dispersion, on the natural frequencies, a powerful numerical method known as the generalized differential quadrature method is utilized to solve the derived equations under various combinations of boundary conditions. The results of this study can help scientists to make more efficient engineering structures to stand against different loading conditions.
