Abstract:

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a common and debilitating mental healthcondition characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and loss ofinterest in daily activities. Hypnosis has been explored as a potential adjunctivetherapy for individuals with MDD, offering a non-pharmacological approach toaddressing symptoms and improving overall well-being. Understanding theeffectiveness of hypnosis in managing MDD is essential for informing clinicalpractice and treatment decisions. A systematic review was conducted to assess theefficacy of hypnosis in the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder. Electronicdatabases were systematically searched for relevant studies published until ۲۰۲۴.Included studies focused on the use of hypnosis as an intervention for individualsdiagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. Studies reported favorable outcomes, including reductions in depressive symptoms, improved mood, and enhancedquality of life in individuals receiving hypnosis as part of their treatment.Hypnosis was also associated with improvements in coping mechanisms andoverall psychological well-being. Hypnosis shows promise as a complementarytherapeutic approach for individuals with Major Depressive Disorder, offering anon-invasive and gentle intervention to alleviate symptoms and enhance mentalhealth outcomes. Integrating hypnosis into comprehensive treatment plans forMDD may contribute to improved patient care and overall treatment efficacy.
