Abstract:

Automated disease detection and categorization is an important step in modern agriculture industry.To achieve this goal, different sensors are employed to capture the health status of the plants to be furtheranalysed by advanced analytics techniques. In this paper, we propose a method for identifying and categorizingapple diseases by employing convolutional neural networks with transfer learning. To this end, we used appleleaf images from the PlantVillage dataset. Using state-of-the-art pre-trained convolutional neural networks andfinetuning them on our dataset, we outperformed the most recent published results. Our method outperformedprevious approaches by achieving perfect ۱۰۰% of accuracy score. This shows that our method can accuratelyidentify and classify apple diseases. Our findings also emphasize the importance of using advanced analyticsmethods to enhance disease control in the agricultural sector.
