Abstract:

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) need to be aware of the positions of other nodes in their immediate vicinity to navigate towards the target position in three-dimensional space without colliding. To achieve this, they employ a broadcast method to share their position information with nearby nodes. However, if one UAV inaccurately reports its location, it can disrupt the entire protocol. To mitigate this risk, there is a significant advantage in verifying location information, even if it incurs additional security costs. In this article, a protocol has been developed to authenticate the locations of unmanned aerial vehicles in three-dimensional space. Within this protocol, the distance between nodes is determined by the received power at the antenna. By combining the received power information from multiple nodes, the position of each node is calculated using the triangulation method. This approach enhances the reliability of determining the actual locations of the nodes. Moreover, these calculations are executed exclusively for nodes with detected distances, aiming to address potential performance issues. Consequently, the proposed protocol introduces a reasonable processor load compared to the standard protocol without a security layer.
