Abstract:
Background and Aim: To reduce the unpleasant psychological consequences of recurrent miscarriage, there are several
treatment methods. Approach Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a new therapeutic approach that accepts processes,
mind fullness, commitment, and flexibility to create psychological behavior modification processes. The present research
determines the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy on strategies for cognitive regulation of emotions and
depression among women with recurrent spontaneous miscarriages in Sanandaj.
Materials and Methods: This research was a quasi-experimental study, with a pretest-posttest with control group. ۳۰ women
were selected by simple random sampling methods from the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic in Sanandaj and were divided by
simple randomization into two groups: a control group and an experimental group (۱۵ women each). The participants completed
the Cognitive Emotional of Regulation Questionnaire, Beck Depression Inventory, and Miller Hope Scale before and after the
intervention. The experimental group was exposed to acceptance and commitment therapy, but the control group received no
intervention. After the end of intervention posttest to two groups.
Results: Data were analyzed by multi-analysis of covariance (MANCOVA). Results showed that acceptance and commitment
therapy were effective in decreasing depression and negative strategies for cognitive emotions of regulation and increasing positive
strategies for cognitive emotions of regulation (p≤۰/۰۰۱).
Conclusion: Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective in reducing depression and increasing positive strategies for
cognitive emotions of regulation among women with recurrent spontaneous miscarriages.
