Abstract:
Catalysts play a vital role in the petroleum industry, significantly impacting both performance and environmental aspects. This paper investigates the environmental impacts of catalysts on in-situ oil upgrading processes. Catalysts, by facilitating various reactions such as isomerization and hydrogenation, are instrumental in converting crude oil into essential refined products. These processes not only enhance product quality and efficiency but also contribute to environmental improvement by reducing air pollutants like sulfur and nitrogen. Moreover, catalyst utilization leads to energy and resource savings. However, challenges remain in optimizing catalyst performance and mitigating their environmental impacts, necessitating further research and technological advancements.
