Abstract:
The non-standard and unprincipled management in Kahrizak landfill has caused environmental crises such as greenhouse gas emissions, leachate leakage, unpleasant odors and the attraction of animals and dangerous disease-carrying organisms in the Kahrizak area. The aim of this study is to evaluate the current waste disposal practices in the center and evaluate their environmental impacts using different methods such as life cycle assessment and environmental impact assessment to analyze the environmental consequences of waste disposal. In addition, optimization strategies for waste management, including waste segregation, recycling, composting and energy recovery, have been compared and weighted according to the existing conditions. These methods aim to reduce the environmental footprint of waste disposal and promote sustainable waste management practices. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for policy makers and waste management professionals to improve the environmental performance of waste disposal facilities.
