Abstract:

One of the new methods to control the internal temperature of residential buildings is to use the thermal properties of phase change materials. These materials can do this by storing the heat energy when the phase changes and reducing the heat transfer rate between the internal space of the building and the surrounding environment. Overall, the proposed work is a two-dimensional simulation of the melting and solidification process of the organic phase change material RT۲۵, which is placed inside an aluminum container with brick walls. In this work, a thermal evaluation has been performed by examining the radiation effects caused by the reflection of the polished surfaces relative to each other. Also, chambers containing paraffin phase change materials have been thermally examined with various slopes relative to the horizon line under constant temperature and constant heat flux conditions. It has been found that the radiation effects accelerate the process of phase change so that it reduced the duration of melting and solidification processes by ۴۳% and ۳۱%, respectively. It was also found that by reducing the slope from ۶۰ degrees to ۴۵ degrees and ۱۵ degrees, the speed of the melting process of paraffin increases by ۷ %, ۱۱ %, and ۱۶%.
