Abstract:

As the use of digital technology among children and teenagers continues to escalate, it has become increasingly crucial to devise innovative methods for addressing their physical and mental well-being. This issue has spurred interest in the concept of gamification—the incorporation of game elements into non-gaming scenarios—as a valuable tool for promoting mental health and wellness. With the goal of examining the feasibility of this approach, this conceptual systematic review delves into numerous published studies that have utilized gamification strategies to support the physical and mental health of children and adolescents. These treatments have the potential to offer a dynamic and captivating platform for improving mental health, managing emotions, promoting physical activity, and cultivating balance in life. The prevalence of video games among young people, makes for attractive teaching tools, highlighting the significance and importance of this subject. To ensure a systematic and replicable review, the chosen analysis technique is crucial. Following the examination of the data, there is a focus on empirical studies that assess the benefits of gamification in enhancing both physical and mental well-being in teenagers. To sum up, gamification offers promising benefits for improving the overall well-being of children and adolescents. By promoting dedication, motivation, and determination, it encourages the adoption of healthy habits. However, in order to fully evaluate the long-term effectiveness of gamification interventions in promoting healthy behaviors among this age group, further research is needed.
