Abstract:

Smart building materials, capable of reacting to environmental and structural changes, have emerged as a significant innovation in the construction industry. These materials can improve energy efficiency, extend the lifespan of structures, and protect the environment. The aim of this study is to examine the application of smart building materials in enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of structures. The results of this research indicate that smart materials, including smart concrete, smart glass, and nanomaterials, using sensors and advanced technologies, enable continuous monitoring and optimization of structural performance. Additionally, the use of smart materials can reduce environmental impacts and enhance the safety of structures. Despite numerous advantages, challenges such as high costs and the need for advanced infrastructure remain. Future advancements in sensor technology, nanomaterials, and artificial intelligence could lead to the broader adoption of smart materials and improved structural performance. This research demonstrates that smart materials can revolutionize the construction industry and contribute to improved quality of life and environmental protection.
