Abstract:
In recent years, a growing number of colleges have honed in on mental health as a pressing issue among students. To further explore this topic, our study aimed to examine potential links between stress, anxiety, and depression among college students. Our sample consisted of undergraduate students aged ۱۸ to ۲۴, who completed a comprehensive survey including ۲۱ items from the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale. Additionally, the survey included a section where students could rate their concern levels regarding everyday life issues (such as family, sleep, and academics), as well as questions on their demographics. The results revealed that the top concerns among students were pressure to succeed, post-graduation plans, and academic performance. Interestingly, residents living off campus, upperclassmen, and transfer students were found to be the most negatively affected in terms of sadness, worry, and stress. It is crucial for colleges to regularly evaluate their students' mental well-being and offer personalized support, as mental health issues can significantly hinder academic success.
