Abstract:
As a maritime transportation terminal, the port has experienced many changes throughout history until ithas become the present day, and these changes will not stop and will continue with the development andadvancement of knowledge and technology. Reviewing past changes and developments, evaluatingtoday's performance, and predicting the future status of ports are prerequisites for planning thedevelopment and design of an efficient network of ports in the maritime transportation industry. One ofthe conventional methods of study in this field is to present the port generation model. In the last fewdecades, several models have been presented by various researchers to determine the path of developmentand evolution of ports from the past until now. But with the passage of time and the introduction of newissues such as sustainable development and artificial intelligence to the maritime transportation industry, the efficiency of these models has decreased and today they cannot be used directly for transportationplanning. In this article, with a comprehensive review of the factors and variables affecting theperformance of the port, Complete Port Generation Model (CPGM) is presented in nine generations andten functional dimensions. Among the achievements of this study, we can mention the elimination of timedependence and the coverage of all ports with a network approach.
