Synthesis, Characterization and Thermal Study of Palladium (II) Complexes with Schiff Base and Mixed Ligands and Their Analytical Application

Abstract:
Palladium (II) (Pd) complexes were synthesized from Schiff base ligands (E)-۴-((۲-hydroxybenzylidene)amino).-۱,۵-dimethyl-۲-phenyl-۱,۲-dihydro-۳H-pyrazol-۳-one, (C۱۸H۱۷N۳O۲) as the primary ligand, and oxalic acid, malonic acid, and sodium pyrophosphate as secondary ligands with a (۱:۱) mole ratio [Pd(C۱۸H۱۷N۳O۲)Cl۲], [Pd(C۱۸H۱۷N۳O۲)(ox)], [Pd(C۱۸H۱۷N۳O۲)(ma)] and [Pd((C۱۸H۱۷N۳O۲)(pyph)]. The complexes were identified by elemental microanalysis, mass spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, ultra violet spectroscopy molar conductivity, and melting point. The complex products had square-planer geometry quantitatively measured at ۳۸۰ nm at optimal reaction. Results suggested that all complexes are non-electrolyte and Schiff base ligands (E)-۴-((۲-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)-۱,۵-dimethyl-۲-phenyl-۱,۲-dihydro-۳H-pyrazol-۳-one, oxalic and malonic acids, and sodium pyrophosphate behave as bidentate ligands with Pd(II) ions. The geometrical structure was based on data from previous techniques. We find that the (E)-۴-((۲-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)-۱,۵-dimethyl-۲-phenyl-۱,۲-dihydro-۳H-pyrazol-۳-one detector can be used in spectral analysis to estimate micrograms of palladium ions as it complexes with colored solutions or sediments, resulting in super absorbent peaks within calibration curves for each ion.
