Abstract:

Damage to structures over their service life is one of their fundamental problems, which arise forvarious reasons and lead to failure, collapse, or improper performance during an earthquake. The LCF(Linked Columns Frame system) is a relatively new system. Considering that any damage to the linkbeams in this system can significantly affect the overall performance of the structure, in this paper, themethod of changing the curvature of the mode shape of the structure is evaluated for the identificationof the said damages. For this purpose, one ۱۵-story structure with the LCF system is designed, andseveral different damage scenarios are considered in its link beams. Then, using the modal curvaturemethod, the location and spot of damage are tried to be predicted. The results obtained from this papershowed the proposed method can accurately identify the location and spot of damaged connections
