INVESTIGATING THE EFFECT OF TRAIN SPEED ANDFOUNDATION PRESENCE ON THE TRAIN-INDUCEDVIBRATIONS

Train-induced vibrations may cause discomfort and become a source of annoyance to the residents.Train-induced vibrations also can disturb the vibration-sensitive instruments in hospitals, laboratories,and industries located in the proximity of railways. Therefore in order to find a way to satisfyenvironmental requirements, the problem of train-induced vibrations has received increasing attentionin recent years. This paper aims to numerically investigate the effect of foundation presence and thespeed of the train movement on the amplitude of induced vibrations. To this end, a plane strain modelwhich consists of a linear elastic and homogeneous soil layer was employed. The results showed thatthe presence of foundation and train speed have strong effect on the vibration amplitude.
