EVALUATING NEIGHBORHOOD SOCIAL RESILIENCEAGAINST EARTHQUAKES (CASE STUDY: JALALIYEHNEIGHBORHOOD IN DISTRICT ۶ OF TEHRAN CITY)

Natural disasters have always been major challenges for urban communities and humansettlements. Based on statistics, vulnerability of urban neighborhoods has been increased over time,especially in developing countries. In recent decades, earthquakes have led to extensive casualties anddamages to urban communities in Iran. Therefore, it seems essential to take the appropriate measuresin various dimensions to improve earthquake risk management, reduce the consequences and increasepreparedness. Studies in recent decades show that improving resilience, as a multi-dimensionalapproach, can be effective in counteracting earthquakes and the sustainability of urban communities.Accordingly, this article evaluates social resilience of Jalaliyeh neighborhood against earthquakes,located in district ۶ of Tehran.
