The rapid integration of AI into all walks of life has triggered thorough research into its influence on project management, from adopting AI tools in management methodologies for AI processes. However, there is a critical need to focus on managing AI development projects. The current research builds on this premise, examining the characteristics of AI development compared to traditional software projects. We further probe the inadequacies in conventional software project management methodologies when applied to AI development contexts, pointing out gaps that can derail project success.With these in mind, we propose a new project management approach to developing AI. The same shall not only consider but also revise the present project management frameworks to satisfy these particular demands of AI by incorporating rigor, hence coming up with a more robust, adaptive, and effective management strategy. This method is our revised approach to help compensate for these gaps by providing a more structured but flexible methodology when steered through the complexities of AI development to satisfy an ever-heightening appetite for sophisticated AI solutions.
