Abstract:

The main aim of recent studies on production of biodegradable plastic is reducing of total cost of them. The most of these researches have included studies of the biodegradable polymer production with cheap carbon sources. In this article in addition to introducing poly(hydroxybutyrate), a special interest has been done on consumption of methane as the most famous, available gaseous substrate in oilfield countries of middle east and Iran for such valuable production. After referring to methanotrophic microorganisms and their metabolic pathways, stochiometry, yield and culture conditions have been reviewed.
