Abstract:
This paper presents a mathematical modeling approach for variable-speed wind turbines based on Doubly-Fed Induction Generators (DFIGs) using singular perturbation theory. By separating the system into fast and slow dynamic components, the complex nonlinear model is reduced without significantly compromising accuracy. Singular perturbation theory provides a powerful mathematical framework to separate and analyze these fast and slow dynamics, simplifying the overall system analysis. The proposed model captures both the electrical dynamics of the stator and rotor circuits, and the mechanical behavior of the turbine. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of the singular perturbation approach in accurately representing system behavior while reducing computational complexity. This work paves the way for more efficient control design and real-time simulation of wind energy systems.
