Abstract:
Paint coatings are commonly used for both aesthetics and protection of products. Nowadays, paints are utilized in almost all man-made artifacts. Producing high-quality paint is asignificant concern for paint manufacturers. Adhesion and viscosity are considered keyquality characteristics of paint, influenced by various factors. Identifying the factors affectingpaint quality characteristics and quantifying their impact helps paint manufacturers adjusttheir production process parameters with sufficient knowledge to achieve higher quality. Inthis thesis, a statistical approach using mixture design of experiments was employed tomeasure the impact of factors influencing paint quality, including CMC, Tylose, and resin. The simplex centroid technique was used for designing the experiments, all of which weredesigned and executed under laboratory conditions. The results of the statistical analysis ofthe experiments demonstrate that applying mixture design of experiments leads to the optimaldetermination of the values and effective factors in paint production. The highest adhesionvalue obtained is ۳۴۰.۹۵۲ N/m² when the amount of CMC is ۰.۴۰۹ grams, Tylose is ۰.۲۵grams, and resin is ۲۵.۳۴۱ grams. The highest viscosity value is ۱۸۴۱.۳۴ cP when the amountof CMC is ۰.۴۴۹ grams, Tylose is ۰.۲۵ grams, and resin is ۲۵.۳۰۱ grams.
