Abstract:
With the era of data-driven companies, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in strategic decision-making has been increasingly popular. However, the black box aspect of AI models brings serious concerns around trust, accountability, and regulation. The paper recommends a multi-layered governance model that supports integrating Explainable AI (XAI) into strategic business decision-making. A retail industry case study, we depict how multilevel governance schemes can enhance AI transparency, the understanding of stakeholders, and facilitation of the ethical deployment of AI. Research shows that, in addition to increasing decision accuracy, the model also strengthens organisational trust levels and makes the applications of AI align with those of corporate governance.
