Abstract:
In this paper comparison of high-speed synchronous reluctance motor with high-speed slotless permanent magnet motor of similar specifications has been investigated. For fair comparison, the weight of the magnets is considered to be the same in both motors. The paper describes the design procedure followed to develop a high-speed synchronous reluctance machine. The goal of this paper is to analyze the capability of a high-speed synchronous reluctance machine to maximize performance (high power, proper power factor, and low vibration) at a given speed. A two-pole synchronous reluctance motor with ۱۲-slot stator and varying flux barrier configurations is considered. Numerous design variables and rotor topologies present significant challenges in the optimal design of synchronous reluctance motors (SynRMs). At first, four synchronous reluctance motors with different numbers of rotor flux barriers ۱, ۲, ۳, and ۴ were designed and analyzed. The results show that the motor with three flux barriers delivers better overall performance compared to the others. Taguchi method was utilized to optimize the motor designs. After analyzing and optimizing several designs, a suitable synchronous reluctance motor was developed and selected. Results show that the slotless motor has lower losses and higher efficiency, along with smoother operation due to reduced cogging torque. These advantages make it a strong candidate for high-performance applications.
