Abstract:
Mental health in marital life is one of the key factors in the success, satisfaction, and stability of a shared life. Many couples mistakenly assume that emotional compatibility or physical attraction is enough to sustain a marriage, while overlooking mental well-being can lead to relationship breakdown. This article provides a scientific and in-depth analysis of the role of mental health in marital quality, conflict prevention, tension management, and enhancing emotional cohesion. Research findings show that psychological disorders such as anxiety, depression, or personality issues in either partner can severely disrupt family balance. Additionally, a lack of communication skills, emotional awareness, and self-esteem may contribute to a toxic atmosphere in the relationship. Conversely, mentally healthy couples demonstrate greater resilience, conflict resolution capabilities, and a sense of psychological safety. This paper, based on reliable scientific sources, aims to identify key psychological components in married life and propose actionable solutions to strengthen them. Ultimately, the goal is to raise awareness among couples about the necessity of mental wellness and provide applicable strategies to promote psychological health throughout their shared journey. By emphasizing emotional literacy, therapeutic interventions, and healthy communication, this study seeks to be both academically robust and practically beneficial for couples, counselors, and family therapists alike.
