Abstract:
This research establishes a comprehensive framework for post-carbon architecture, focusing on holistic approaches to resilience and achieving net-zero carbon targets. The study employs a descriptive research method, collecting, classifying, and analyzing data from reputable scientific literature to address key research questions. The analysis, based on scientific articles and credible sources, examines existing challenges and opportunities. The findings indicate that post-carbon architecture represents a critical paradigm shift, moving beyond energy reduction toward full decarbonization and enhanced resilience of the built environment. Advanced digital technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, machine learning, and digital twins, optimize energy performance and transform buildings into intelligent, self-optimizing systems. The use of locally sourced, bio-based materials with low embodied carbon and carbon sequestration potential offers a dual strategy for emission reduction and active carbon storage. Policy frameworks and circular economy principles are essential for accelerating this transition, overcoming financial barriers, and promoting practices like material reuse and recycling. Active and passive design strategies, adapted to different climates, form the foundational layer for post-carbon performance. This integrated approach leads to stronger, more adaptive buildings with broader impacts on urban and energy network scales.
