Abstract:
This research explored the interconnections between brain-behavioral systems, specifically behavioral inhibition and activation, and the psychological constructs of anxiety, depression, and addiction proneness in a sample of students at Islamic Azad University of Kish during the ۲۰۲۳-۲۰۲۴ academic year. Using a descriptive correlational methodology, a convenience sample of ۸۰ participants was recruited from a total student population of ۱۵۰۰. Participants completed the Behavioral Inhibition/Activation System (BIS/BAS) scales, the Beck Anxiety Inventory, the Beck Depression Inventory, and the Addiction Potential Scale to assess the study variables. The findings revealed no statistically significant relationship between addiction and behavioral inhibition. In contrast, significant negative correlations were observed between behavioral inhibition and both depression and anxiety. Furthermore, the study showed no significant relationships between addiction and either depression or anxiety. Finally, a significant positive correlation was established between depression and anxiety levels.
