Applications of natural language processing in medicine: A systematic review of approaches, platforms, and challenges

With the expansion of clinical data and the increasing need for analyzing unstructured text information in the health field, NLP has emerged as a key tool in medicine. This technology plays an important role in extracting information, analyzing patient sentiment, supporting clinical decision-making, and developing smart health tools. In this review, we comprehensively review prominent studies in the field of NLP in medicine. The results of this review show that although NLP has a vast potential to transform health care, there are challenges such as the need for quality data, interdisciplinary interaction, and technical limitations in its development.
