Abstract:
Supersymmetry (SUSY) is a theoretical framework that extends the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics and posits a symmetry between fermions and bosons. It thus predicts 'superpartners' to each particle. It also provides a solution to the hierarchy problem, and it allows for a candidate for dark matter. In this paper, we discuss SUSY applications in nuclear phenomenology and high-energy physics, a field that has seen many new developments. Using very recent literature, we cover some of the latest results at colliders, discuss the possibility of seeing SUSY in dark matter research, and review the applications of SUSY to nuclear physics, in particular, properties of the atomic nucleus, which is our interest.
