Abstract:

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a common spiral-shaped bacterium that can lead to stomach problems such as gastritis, ulcers, and even cancer. Because antibiotic resistance is on the rise, scientists are looking into other options, like herbal remedies. Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) has been a go-to in traditional medicine for ages, thanks to its ability to reduce inflammation, fight germs, and protect the stomach. This review looks at how well licorice and its active ingredients work to stop H. pylori from growing, sticking to the stomach lining, and causing harm. It uses findings from lab, animal, and human studies. We'll talk about how it works, like by blocking bacterial enzymes and preventing bacteria from sticking. We will consider how it can work with regular treatments and its safety and how it might be used to get rid of H. pylori.
