A Study on the Ruling of Narcotic Based on Ḥanafī Jurisprudence

Although some types of intoxicating substances, such as cannabis, bang, and hashish, are mentioned in jurisprudential sources, and the jurists of the Hanafi school have elaborated on their prohibition, there has been no discussion regarding synthetic and composite drugs. For this reason, Hanafi jurists have provided detailed opinions regarding the prohibition and permissibility of these substances based on the harms associated with them. This research aims to clarify and examine the legal rulings related to narcotic substances. The main issue is that the phenomenon of addiction and behavioral abnormalities resulting from drug use are significant challenges facing human society, especially in our country; therefore, familiarity with the jurisprudential rulings related to narcotics is deemed essential. The primary goal of this research is to state the legal ruling on the use of narcotic substances, to survey the opinions and views of Hanafi jurists, and to explain the verses and hadiths that indicate the prohibition of drug use. Given the practical nature of the topic, the author has attempted to investigate the subject using a descriptive-analytical method.
