The Sharia Ruling on Financial Punishment

The findings of the research indicate that there is no definitive evidence supporting the legitimacy of financial penalties in Islamic law. Islamic jurists have varied in their opinions regarding the permissibility of financial penalties. The majority of Islamic scholars, particularly those following the Hanafi school of thought, hold the view that financial penalties are not permissible. Based on the discussion, it can be concluded that financial fines are generally not permissible according to the overarching principles of Islamic law, which emphasize the sanctity of individual property and the prohibition of taking money without lawful permission.
