Abstract:
The rapid expansion of digital technologies has profoundly transformed managerial roles and organizational structures over the past two decades. This study examines the evolving nature of management in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), with a focus on how digital transformation reshapes decision-making, organizational design, leadership practices, and control mechanisms. Drawing on recent theoretical and empirical literature, the study highlights that AI-enabled tools have shifted managerial processes from intuition-based and hierarchical systems toward data-driven, predictive, and agile models. The research further explores the dynamics of human–AI collaboration, emphasizing that intelligent systems do not replace human managers but instead augment their cognitive capabilities—particularly in data analysis, pattern recognition, forecasting, and reducing decision errors. The findings also reveal that the integration of AI introduces several ethical and social challenges, including algorithmic bias, data privacy concerns, reduced human autonomy, and workforce displacement. These challenges underscore the need for ethical leadership and responsible technological governance. Moreover, the study identifies essential competencies required for managers in AI-driven environments, such as data literacy, technological awareness, systems thinking, innovation capability, and adaptive leadership. Finally, the study reviews emerging models of AI-era management—including algorithmic, predictive, augmented, and automated management—which collectively illustrate a shift toward hybrid human–machine decision-making. Overall, this research concludes that effective management in the age of AI requires a multidimensional and interdisciplinary approach that integrates technological proficiency, ethical considerations, and strategic adaptability to sustain organizational competitiveness in an increasingly digital world.
