Abstract:
Premature ejaculation is one of the most common sexual disorders in men, exerting considerable effects on sexual, psychological, and marital quality of life. This disorder may lead to decreased self-confidence, increased performance anxiety, and sexual dissatisfaction. Considering the limitations of pharmacological treatments, psychotherapy—particularly Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)—has attracted significant attention as an effective and sustainable approach. CBT, by focusing on the modification of maladaptive thoughts and behaviors, teaching ejaculatory control skills, and reducing performance anxiety, can play a crucial role in enhancing male sexual functioning. The aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy in reducing premature ejaculation and improving ejaculatory control in men. The research employs a quasi-experimental design with control and intervention groups. Participants will complete pre-test measures related to ejaculatory control and sexual satisfaction, after which the intervention group will receive CBT sessions. Post-test results will then be compared between groups. The anticipated findings suggest that CBT increases intercourse duration, enhances ejaculatory control, and reduces performance anxiety. It is also expected that this therapeutic approach will positively influence men’s sexual satisfaction and the quality of their marital relationships. The results of this study can serve as a foundation for developing non-pharmacological, educational, and psychotherapeutic programs in the field of men’s sexual health, thereby contributing to the improvement of their sexual and psychological quality of life. Moreover, providing scientific evidence in this area may help reduce taboos and social stigma associated with male sexual dysfunctions.
