Abstract:
This paper presents an integrative review of the psychological foundations underlying contemporary educational systems, emphasizing cognitive, motivational, socio-emotional, and sociocultural dimensions that shape learners’ development and classroom engagement. Drawing on key psychological frameworks-including behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and self-theory- the study critically examines how principles of educational psychology inform instructional design, learning assessment, and educational policy. Through a synthesis of research published between ۲۰۱۹ and ۲۰۲۵, the review identifies emerging trends in learner autonomy, digital learning environments, socio-emotional learning, inclusivity, and culturally responsive pedagogy. These trends highlight the growing recognition that effective education must balance measurable outcomes with students’ psychological well-being, agency, and sense of belonging. Furthermore, the paper discusses the interplay between motivation, equity, and cognitive development in diverse educational contexts, emphasizing that global transitions toward hybrid and post-pandemic learning require adaptive psychological models. The analysis underscores the continuing relevance of classical theories while demonstrating the necessity of human-centered and evidence-based pedagogical reforms aligned with the principles of equity, empathy, and resilience. The review concludes by proposing an integrated psychological framework to guide curriculum design, teacher education, and policymaking in pursuit of sustainable and inclusive educational development.
